Social Media Intern
The Role
We’re seeking an independent and creative individual with a passion for social activism for our Social Media and Content Intern position beginning immediately. The Social Media Intern will be responsible for managing logistics for day-to-day social media content focused on raising awareness for issues of equity, diversity and equality, and assisting with the planning, preparation and execution of Honesty Hour original content production.
We are a small organization with big plans and hope for this to be an opportunity for you to gain valuable hands-on experience and build your portfolio (even in these endlessly remote times). We are always willing to hear out any suggestions or ideas you may have for content production, strategy or distribution, so self-starters and deeply creative thinkers are a highly preferred!

Location: Remote
Start: Immediate (flexible end dates)
Commitment: 8-10 Hours/week (flexible)
Intern type: Unpaid (subject to change based on funding availability)
Key Responsibilities & Goals
At the current stage of Honesty Hour’s development as an organization, the priorities of the Social Media & Content Intern are to grow Honesty Hour’s Instagram, Facebook and YouTube following and help with the planning, execution and posting of original audio-visual content on our website and social media.
Coordination
● Work with Honesty Hour’s medias manager to confirm and execute on our social media calendar in support of our primary verticals
● Set and drive toward platform growth goals under the guidance of Honesty Hour staff
o Our content falls in the category of “conscious content” – produced in the interest of sharing experiences and knowledge as opposed to selling ads. We’re not focused on driving revenue, but are looking to increase our following across sm platforms and increase website traffic
● Liaise with media partners and coordinate collection of commissioned content (self-tapes, op-eds etc.)
Content Production
● Assist Honesty Hour’s media team with all parts of the audio-visual content production process (ideation, planning, execution & distribution across our platforms)
● Optional based on interest: Intern will plan and write blog-style written pieces that focus on one of the three focus areas, equity, diversity and equality
As the company develops, the Social Media & Content Intern will have the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities to be defined.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Current student of a 2 or 4-year higher educational institution (or incoming college Freshman SY ‘21- ‘22)
● NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED HOWEVER, candidates with 1 or more years of relevant work experience in social media management, creative production or marketing will be favored
● Superior oral and written communication skills
● Ability to manage own workflow and complete tasks with minimal supervision
● Adaptable and creative problem-solver who can find resources to make it happen
● Strong organizational skills
● Entrepreneurial spirit
● Passion for social impact and solving world issues
● Fluent in English (additional languages including Spanish and Mandarin are preferred)
OTHER
● As this is technically a volunteer position, we do not offer Visa sponsorship to the US.
● Exposure to professional development opportunities (and will bring you along to all our partnership meetings)
